Our preferred method of event-planning is to pick a spot on the map and walk there, seeing what we see along the way. Tuesday's destination was Hama-rikyu Gardens, which was home to various Shoguns beginning in the 1600's. The teahouse that juts out over the water was built in 1707--probably looked a little different without all those skyscrapers in the background!

The little grave is to console the spirits of the ducks that were killed at all the duck hunting sites in the garden.

The last picture doesn't look like much, but it is where the Shoguns would practice their horse-riding skills. I just love that, to be standing right where Shoguns on horseback were galloping centuries ago. Gives me shivers!
