The remarkable thing about the quaint and homey Germania restaurant is that it has existed on prime real estate on the Ginza (the most expensive property per sq ft in the world) for 50 years. If you look closely at the tables, they are huge thick slabs of hinoki cypress that get sanded clean every day. In 50 years they have lost approximately half of their thickness.
